Guacamelee! coming to PS4 and Xbox One.

Good news for Xbox fans who never got to check out the best downloadable game of 2013 - Guacamelee! is coming to PS4 and Xbox One in spring 2014, according to this IGN article which was promptly pulled down.  As always, Endless of All Games Beta can be relied upon to record such moments for posterity, and a screenshot of the Google cache has been nabbed.

The article's text, in its entirety:
"Drinkbox Studios has announced a slew of news for thirsty fans. Set for a spring 2014 launch, Guacamelee! Super Turbo Champion Edition will land on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. And more than just a port, this version of the action platformer will feature all new content and improved visuals. Plus, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack will make its way from the Vita to consoles, and Drinkbox is working on a mobile game.

According to Drinkbox Studios' Chris McQuinn, the next generation Guacamelee will feature two brand new worlds, new enemies, a "chicken-bomb ability," and reworked visuals with enhanced particle effects. The previously Vita-exclusive Mutant Blobs Attack will launch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, "sometime early next year."

The studio's next game is a mobile title, currently under the working title Slash. McQuinn didn't offer much in the way of specifics, but it does sound as if the game will feature some type of combat mechanic.

"Slash is exposing DrinkBox Studios to a range of new challenges," said McQuinn. "From exploring a grittier art style and more serious storytelling, to developing a compelling touch screen battle system.""

News that Drinkbox isn't rolling directly in to Guacamelee 2 : Metroidier is a bit of a disappointment, but you can't fault the company for hoping to crack the incredibly lucrative cell phone game market.  I'm just scratching my head thinking of a "gritty" game that managed it.

Still - two new worlds of Guacamelee to platform and brawl my way through?  Yes please.

Oh, also - Endless, if you stumble across this?  I love the new header.

    1. Is it? Lemmie check... hmmm 360 and Wii U, yep - but I don't think those platforms were announced until last week, so the headline remains accurate, for its time.
