Saving a hundred dollars would be nice...

This ad, emailed to Xbox 360 owners, which encourages PS3 owners to "ditch" their PS3s in order to save $100 on Xbox One (at official Microsoft brick-and-mortar stores), made the rounds a day or two ago.  The ad doesn't note that the Microsoft Store will also give you $100 store credit if you bring in a Xbox 360 S or Xbox 360 E - but it also lacks awareness of the deal's central conceit - which is, if you're hyped for a next-gen console, there's a simpler way to save $100.

  1. one of my old college buddies, whose been on board the xbox from day one, pinged me on steam the other day asking what the great ps3 games were. He's totally jumping ship and I wouldn't have bet any money on that. This was an about-face of horrifying proportions.

The kind of person that springs for the obviously cheaper console isn't the kind of person to jump through voucher hoops. Being $100 cheaper is the only reason I'm finally having a conversation with Patrick about among thieves...

"yeah no, it's like Nathan Fillion is Indianan Jones!"

    1. So wait... because the PS4 is cheaper than the Xbox One, he's buying a PS3?

  2. He thinks he'll be able to download ps3 classics. I'm sure they will eventually.

    1. He'll be able to stream them a'la OnLive - a terribly untested technology. Word is the PS4 will be getting emulation for PS1 and 2 games, though. So hey - Odin Sphere!
