Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash for PS4 is a 5 v 5 shooter in which the Senran Kagura girls wield waterguns against each other, while wearing swimsuits. The series made its name on blatant sex appeal and "goddamn, this is really fun" brawling. There's been a rhythm game spin-off that couldn't hold my attention for ten minutes, a pair of games (where the franchise was born) on 3DS, and two brawlers on Vita that are just fun and I kinda' actually love them.
A new SK title for 2017 has been kind-of-acknowledged for a while, but I don't think anyone expected... or wanted this.
"Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash revolves around a water gun tournament that has been around in the world of shinobi since ancient times. While the heroines will be restricted from using their regular shinobi skills, they’ll have access to various water guns ranging from gatling guns to sniper rifles, along with attack effects that can be set with cards."Okayyy... so I it may be a poor man's Splatoon, if you will. The SK titles have had mutliplayer for years, now, so it wouldn't be unprecedented for the series - but I feel like a shooter is something that's both really easy to screw up and not what fans want of the series. Or at least not this fan.
That being said, I didn't think I was gonna' buy Overwatch either. Who knows? Maybe I'll be super-depressed when this gets released in the west and buy it on a whim, too. It's due out in Japan on March 16th, 2017. Isn't it crazy that Japanese games get release dates like, the same day they're announced?
Oh but word is "a Senran Kagura action game will also be in the works," so this pleases us. More brawling on Vita, please!
