Overwatch's Anniversary event is live - and so are some balance changes!

It's growing on me.  A little.

The Anniversary event is now live!  Behold, a promotional video!

And Hanzo and Brigitte got nerfed, so that's very nice.  Here's those deets:

  • Biotic Rifle
    • Projectiles will now pass through allies with full health
    • Ammo increased from 10 to 14

Developer Comments: These changes should help Ana when she is trying to land clutch heals in the middle of a big fight. Allies that do not need healing will no longer potentially block shots meant for teammates that do need it. Increasing her magazine size makes it less likely that Ana will be forced into a reloading in the middle of an important fight.
Chance says : yeah, that's good.

  • Rally
    • Maximum armor per player reduced from 150 to 100
  • Shield Bash
    • Cooldown increased from 5 to 6 seconds

Developer Comments: Brigitte’s ultimate is very powerful, especially when it is placed on the entire team. This change will reduce the maximum armor value of Rally, but does not reduce the overall amount of armor given by the ability over its duration. This means when used in combat while her allies are taking damage, it should feel about the same, but the lingering effects of the armor should have less of an impact. Her Shield Bash is a very strong ability on a fairly short cooldown, making it difficult for her opponents to play around. Increasing this cooldown allows for more options when battling against her.
Chance says : yeahhh!  Suck it, ya cheapass bullshit hero!

  • Storm Arrows
    • Damage reduced from 80 to 70

Developer Comments: Hanzo’s Storm Arrows are doing too much damage considering his other changes, such as Lunge and projectile speed. This damage reduction will give Hanzo’s enemies a more reasonable chance to react and fight against him while using Storm Arrows.
Chance says: yeahhh!

All the skins that leaked the other day are real, but the official shots are a lot nicer.

All my complaints remain.  This Kotaku post is bullshit, the community is actually very divided.  The artist community loves it, for the most part - but most also agree pants would be nice.

Okay this Bastion looks a lot better when you see that the cannon on his tank form is a railgun.  Awesome.

I waaant it.

You get a free loot box with a guaranteed legendary in it, if you log in between now and June 11th, when the event ends.  My loot box contained Moira's weird goth lady dance and Doomfist's Dapper as Fuck skin.

...which would be nice if Doomfist wasn't my worst hero in the game by like, a wide margin.  Chris and I were playing Mystery Heroes last night (I force him to play one game of Mystery heroes every time we play - he hates it), and he was saying how he's so bad on such-and-such a hero.

I explained that when I get Doomfist in Mystery Heroes, I still try - but I also basically just run in and die - which switches me to a different hero I can actually use!  Like I can do more on Widow, Genji and Ana than I can Doomfist.  I've won games on Ana.  That's happened.

Annnd that's it for today's Overwatch news!  Oh also they sold licensing rights to Lego and Nerf, so expect Overwatch Nerf guns and Lego sets in 2019.

Also I don't think you can get the Magical Girl Mercy skin any more - campaign's over!  I wonder when they're going to announce the amount raised?  Anyway, please enjoy this Magical Girl Mercy fan art.
