Ubisoft is making a 2D RPG with Rayman's engine.

Admit it, you liked everything about that sentence.  Except maybe the 'Ubisoft' part - but it's being directed by Patrick Plourde, who was the creative director on Far Cry 3, which was amazing.  With an ambition to make a turn-based JRPG-style title that's “a playable painting,” Child of Light follows a young girl who "physically and mentally grows up" over the course of her adventure.

  • Lovely 2D artwork.
  • The Ubi-Art Framework engine.
  • A western-developed JRPG-style game with
  • Turn-based battles.
God, yes.  The game's due out this year, will be downloadable, and word is we'll get a trailer in about two weeks.
