Driveclub's PS+ Edition deal is so awful you'll be surprised it comes from Sony.

So here's the deal - if you have PS+, you can get the Driveclub PS+ Edition for free.  Sweet.  It comes with 11 tracks, 10 cars and access to all game modes.

If you'd prefer to pay $60 and just buy the game, you're welcome to - physical or digital.

If you want to upgrade your PS+ Edition to have access to all the stuff in the full game - 55 cars, 50 tracks - that'll cost you fifty bucks... and a PlayStation Plus subscription for the rest of your life.  If you ever let your PS+ subscription lapse, you lose access to the Driveclub stuff you paid $50 for.

Sony..?  What the hell?  That's bullshit.  You know that's bullshit, and this is so counter to your recent pro-consumer stance, I'm wondering if you're not pulling this crap just so people can complain and you can be the hero and reverse it later on.  Which would be pretty manipulative and crappy of you.

Either way, this is crappy of you, Sony, and you had us expecting better from you.

Here, let me turn to my favorite from Gawker's "greatest gif of all time" post yesterday:

Also, Mr. Rogers.

There.  That illustrates things well.

[update] And it took about a day for Sony to reverse things on the DriveClub PS+ Edition. [/update]
