E3 2014 Press Conference Day Recap.
It has been a helluva day, and I trust you'll forgive me if I'm a bit weary. I've been blogging myself ragged all day, to the point that Blogger decided I must be some sort of steam-driven mechanical blogging automaton - but, on the bright side, I think I've got everything. And I do mean everything (if you want to parse everything, click here for the E3 Homepage).
Here's the stuff you need to know about from today's conferences. First up, Uncharted 4 looks holy-shit good.
The other trailers you absolutely must watch, darling, are the No Man's Sky PS4 trailer
and the gameplay footage for Far Cry 4, which instantly puts the game at the very top of my hype list.
Meanwhile, turns out From Software and Demon's/Dark Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki are making a PS4 exclusive game in the vein of the Souls series, and it's called Bloodborne. Also in awesome news, Rise of the Tomb Raider, a direct sequel to last year's fabulous reboot, is official.
A lot of cool indies are on their way to PS4 and Vita, but Microsoft's no slouch on that front, with Inside - the next thing from Limbo developer Playdead - along with the slice-and-dice Wulverblade and Cuphead, which is another trailer I insist you watch:
Another must-watch is the Dead Island 2 announcement trailer - developed by (Spec Ops: The Line) Yager, it's an Unreal Engine 4 game - which eschews the ultra-serious tone of the first two games' announcement trailers:
Sony also announced LittleBigPlanet 3 for PS4, the Suda 51-developed Let It Die and finally, finally showed off some The Order: 1886 gameplay, which looks gorgeous and very scripted. The Last of Us Remastered got a trailer, and will release on July 28th. For their part, Microsoft announced a very generous package of every numbered Halo game, up-ported to Xbox One, including all the map packs the games ever had and multiplayer support for sixty bucks, coming this fall - but the most entertaining part of their conference was easily the Sunset Overdrive trailer.
In other third-party news, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt got an attractive gameplay demo, Tom Clancy's The Division enjoyed a shockingly moving cinematic trailer, Mirror's Edge was barely touched upon, Metal Gear Solid 5's trailer is all kinds of feelings, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare actually looks pretty cool and Ubisoft announced Rainbox Six Siege - a multiplayer title that looks pretty badass.
Ubisoft on the whole had one of the best showings all-round, with Far Cry 4's incredible showing and three fantastic trailers for Assassin's Creed Unity - but let me simply show you the one that really wowed me:
And that... is the very short version. Cuphead looks crazy, eh?
Oh! I forgot about Batman! It looks gorgeous, check this out:
Oh, and Grand Theft Auto V is coming to the new-gen consoles and PC this fall. Yay!
