Never having played Odin Sphere, do you recommend just waiting this out, or should I get the ps2 classics version in the store before grabbing this?
Well... did you play Muramasa? Muramasa's combat is a frickin' quantum leap of expression and speed compared to what the original Odin Sphere was packing (jump, double-jump, 3-hit combo and a guard). Dragon's Crown was another step forward in complexity, and OS:Leifdrasir looks around that level. I've known a lot of gamers who got burnt out on Odin Sphere's "sameyness" - it's a very, very long game - but I found it wonderful to settle back into when I tried the PS2 classic on PS3 a few years ago. I would say wait - if you'd never played it, its limited combat systems might be a bit of a turn-off. It's still a gorgeous, moving magnum opus of operatic Norse mythological melodrama in which you plant seeds which eat souls, and then eat the fruit they produce to gain experience that is specific to your HP bar, which is separate from your weapon's XP gauge, and OH MY GOD IT'S SO AWESOME WHY ISN'T IT OUT RIGHT NOW?!
