When Odin Sphere Leifthrasir's (North American) Storybook Edition was announced for PS4, included among the goodies - along with a hardcover art book, a metal slip case and T-shirt (who wants a T-shirt?) - was a "high quality art print" with an unannounced design. Well, the design has been announced.
It's Alice and Socrates.
Players of the original will no doubt remember, but each and every time you boot up Odin Sphere and load your game, it doesn't drop you back where you were in the story.
It drops you into the attic where Alice reads the books that make up the game's narrative - you have to control Alice to get her to pick up the first book (and second to fifth, as they become available), walk her over to that big comfy-looking chair and have her sit on it to begin reading the story, and return to where you were in the game.
If you like, Alice can also pick up Socrates, carry him over to the chair and just chill out with the cat in her lap.
Long story short, fans of the game will have their preference for the heroes - I love Gwendolyn and Oswald, m'self - but none of the five heroes really represent the entire game. Alice and Socrates do - so this is an excellent choice.
It's also an opportune time to point out that there's a bunch of additions to the attic scene in Leifthrasir! Socrates and Alice both have new animations and behaviors. And y'notice that little wooden step behind Alice in the above image? Alice will now hop up on it and peruse extra story bits you earn throughout the adventure (or at least, I think they are - they're in Japanese, at the moment).
When idle, Socrates will amble over to Alice and, purring, nuzzle her affectionately like any good cat will. It's super cute.
So yeah. Good call, Atlus.
